This wine is very fruity.  Starting with the ripe lemon and banana aromas then pear and kiwi fruit, mango and a taste of honey.  It has nice acidity and a lot of weight on the palate.  The color is a light straw yellow and is our favorite summer white that doesn't loose anything at fridge temperature.

Our Gewurztraminer is almost dry in a style at 1% residual sugar.  It has floral, rose and citrus aromas and flavors of honey, dried fruit, lemon peel and spicy nutmeg and allspice.  This wine has a silky texture with lively acidity to balance the mouth feel with a rather dry finish.  Enjoy on it's own or with your favorite spicy dishes.  Great with roast turkey or a pork roast.

The grapes for this wine are grown at 6,800' elevation on a farm owned by Bill and Denise Russell.  The vineyard was planted where an organic apple orchard stood six years ago.  The Lebanon area north of Cortez in the Montezuma Valley has the potential to be one of the best high altitude growing areas in Colorado.  The wine is just off-dry and is bright with a green apple tint in color.  It has fruit flavors of line, apricot, and a little French melon that compliments the mouth watering finish!

After a week on the skins, we pressed the Merlot grapes and continued the long, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks until stopping it with just the right amount of sweetness.  This process gave the wine a deep red color.  With aromas of blueberry on the nose, the palate is all fruit, dominated by blueberry then strawberry, cherry and red plum.  It has a soft and rich cream texture with a bit of vanilla at mid-palate.

( ma-‘tat-e ) a stone with a concave upper surface used as the bottom millstone for grinding grains especially maize.  When planting the estate vineyard, we encountered many ancient ruins. Scattered among the ruins were metate stones left by the Anasazi. Each year this wine is a blend of the best barrels from our cellar, usually from estate fruit. The 2006 is a field blend of approximately 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot and was aged in French oak barrels for two years. This full bodied wine expresses the terror of our growing region with a hint of juniper and mint.

The color is bright but not as dark as most of our wines from Bordeaux varieties, but has a lot of body. Aromatic cherry and violets dominate with a hint of cigar tobacco on the nose. The palate is bright cherry and ripe plum fruit, a bit of eucalyptus and fresh dill and the classic Cab Franc hint of steel. Roast duck, grilled chicken, grilled halibut or short ribs should compliment nicely.

Rarely found as a varietal wine, Petit Verdot is one of the primary Bordeaux red grapes and is most often used as a blender. This wine has a deep blue-red color. The flavor is dark blueberry, a full mid-palate of cola and mocha with firm tannin and a lingering finish. This is a big wine that can stand up to herbed meats like a garlic and rosemary roast prime rib or try it with a honeyed ham.

After eighteen months of aging in French oak barrels, we blended this wine and aged for an additional six months. The Cabernet brings bright fruit and tannin while the Shiraz lends pepper, spice and a rich mouthfeel to a lingering finish. Metate is the base stone used to grind maize by the Ancestral Puebloan people of our region. We designate the best blend we can produce from a vintage to be Metate.
